What Should You Expect at a Senior Portrait Session?
Senior portrait sessions at Mike Fox Photography run 2–3 hours on location. Mike handles the camera, posing, and direction. Angi manages the lighting, sequences outfits across locations, and demonstrates poses so seniors know exactly what to do. You'll cover 5 complete looks across multiple locations. About 1–2 weeks after the session, you'll come to an in-person ordering appointment to see your images and choose your products.
How long does a senior portrait session last?
2–3 hours on location. That's enough time to cover 5 complete looks at multiple locations without rushing. Most sessions use all of that time, with room to settle into each look and location before moving on.
What does each team member do during the session?
Mike handles the camera, posing, and direction throughout. Angi carries and aims the lighting, decides which outfit shoots at which location, demonstrates poses physically so seniors know exactly what position to take, keeps the senior's energy and confidence up, and keeps parents engaged during the shoot. Professional location lighting and posing direction genuinely require two people to do well.
How many outfits and locations does one session cover?
Sessions typically produce 5 complete outfits across multiple locations. Cap and gown and letter jackets are additions layered over an existing outfit; they don't count as one of the five. Exact locations depend on what the senior wants and what the session calls for. Mike Fox Photography shoots across Pearland, Friendswood, League City, Clear Lake, Manvel, and surrounding communities. If there's a specific location that matters to your senior, that conversation happens at the consultation.
What does the session atmosphere feel like?
Mike and Angi have raised three teenagers of their own, and sessions reflect that. They know how to be around high school seniors without it feeling awkward or stiff. Families consistently describe it as genuinely enjoyable. Seniors who came in hesitant usually relax within the first few minutes on location.
Can family members come to the session?
Yes. At least one parent or guardian is expected to be there, and sometimes both parents or a sibling comes along. Family members walk the locations with the team throughout the shoot. Mike and Angi talk with everyone. Most families say the whole day felt like something they were part of.
What happens in the days after the session?
You'll schedule your ordering appointment for approximately 1–2 weeks out. That's when you see your images for the first time and choose your products. Nothing is selected before then. Products arrive approximately one month after the ordering appointment.
When do I see my photos?
At the in-person ordering appointment, approximately 1–2 weeks after your session. You see approximately 60 to 80 curated images from your session on a large screen before making any product decisions. There is no online gallery before this appointment.
Is there an online gallery?
Yes, but not before the ordering appointment. All initial image viewing and product selection happens in person. After your order is placed and images are retouched, Mike Fox Photography creates a private gallery for gift print selection (sizes 8x12 and smaller) that you can share with grandparents or other family members who want to order prints.
What should seniors do to prepare for the session?
Bring your outfits ready to go. Plan for 2–3 hours outdoors. Comfortable shoes matter, especially for longer location walks. Seniors don't need to know how to pose; Mike directs everything. The main preparation is outfits and showing up.
Ready to Schedule a Consultation?
The consultation is free and there's no commitment to book. You'll see the work, hold the actual products, and get a clear picture of the process from start to finish. If it's the right fit, the $199 session fee holds your date. If it isn't, you've spent nothing.
