What Happens at the Ordering Appointment After Senior Portraits?

The ordering appointment is an in-person meeting at Mike Fox Photography, approximately 1–2 weeks after your session. It's the first time you see your images — full size, on a large screen. You view the photos from the session and choose your products. Nothing is selected or purchased before this appointment. Products are delivered approximately one month after the order is placed.

What is the ordering appointment?

It's the in-person meeting where you see your images for the first time and choose what to purchase. You view the photos from your session on a large screen before making any decisions. Mike Fox Photography uses an in-person model rather than an online gallery. All image viewing and product selection happens at this appointment.

When does the ordering appointment happen?

Approximately 1–2 weeks after your session. You'll schedule it at the shoot.

What do I see at the ordering appointment?

Approximately 60 to 80 images from your session, displayed full size on a large screen. Before the appointment, we go through everything we shot and select the images that worked: the ones with strong light, expression, and technical quality. You see the best of the session, not the outtakes.

What products can I order at the ordering appointment?

Portrait packages include albums, wall portraits, metal wall art, framed prints, gift-size prints, a senior magazine, graduation announcements, and digital files for social media. Package contents and pricing are reviewed at the consultation before the session, so by the time you arrive at the ordering appointment, you already know the options. The appointment is for choosing your images and deciding how you want to see them, not learning the product lineup for the first time.

What does a typical package include?

Clients spending around the $2,000 average are typically getting an album, two pieces of wall art, small prints (8x12 and down), announcements, and digital files. Exact package contents and pricing are covered at the consultation.

Why is viewing and ordering done in person rather than online?

Seeing images full size changes how you experience them. A photo that reads as mediocre in a thumbnail can be clearly the right one at full size, and the one that seemed strongest in a small grid can reveal problems you couldn't see at that size. An online gallery puts you in front of all your images on your own, with no structure to help you compare them. The in-person process is designed to move you through the images, which makes narrowing down to the ones you love feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

Who should come to the ordering appointment?

The senior and whoever will be involved in product and spending decisions. That's usually the senior alongside one or both parents. The appointment covers image selection and package choices, so everyone who will weigh in on either should plan to be there.

What happens after the ordering appointment?

Every image you purchase gets a full retouch: skin, distractions, color. Then products go into production. Albums take approximately one month. Wall art and prints may have a little more flexibility on timing, but a month is a reliable estimate for planning. After your order is placed, Mike Fox Photography creates a private online gallery for gift print selection — sizes 8x12 and smaller. Your package includes a set of gift prints, and you use the gallery to choose which images to use for those. You can also share the link with grandparents or other family members who want to order additional prints.

Is there an online gallery for senior portraits?

Yes, but only after the ordering appointment. All initial image viewing and product selection happens in person. The online gallery created after the order is specifically for gift print sizing (8x12 and smaller) and sharing with extended family. It is not a substitute for the ordering appointment.

Do I need to decide on products before the ordering appointment?

No. At the consultation, you review package options and pricing for information. You see and hold the actual physical products (albums, wall art, prints) before you ever book. By the time the ordering appointment comes, you know what everything looks and feels like. The product decision at the ordering appointment is about which images to include, not learning the options for the first time.

Ready to Schedule a Consultation?

The consultation is free and there's no commitment to book. You'll see the work, hold the actual products, and get a clear picture of the process from start to finish. If it's the right fit, the $199 session fee holds your date. If it isn't, you've spent nothing.

Schedule your consultation.
