Cap and Gown Senior Portraits in Pearland TX
Cap and gown is included in roughly 30 to 40 percent of senior sessions at Mike Fox Photography in Pearland, TX. It's a standard part of many shoots, not a specialty add-on. The approach is the same as the rest of the session: real direction, real locations, professional lighting. Images that look like the actual senior, not a school-photo version of them.
Is cap and gown included in a senior portrait session?
It can be, yes. About 30 to 40 percent of Mike Fox Photography sessions include cap and gown.
It's not a separate package or an additional charge. Seniors who want cap and gown shots layer the cap and gown over an existing outfit for a set of images, then move on. It's added on top of the five outfit looks, not counted as one of them.
How is Mike Fox Photography's approach to cap and gown different from school photos?
The school photo version of cap and gown is optimized for consistency: everyone in the same spot, the same backdrop, the same pose. The goal is a uniform image that reads clearly at small sizes.
Mike Fox Photography shoots cap and gown at whatever location works, over an existing outfit, with the same lighting and direction as the rest of the session. It doesn't get mixed with activity or prop shots. It's its own set of images layered in alongside the regular outfit sequence.
The look is intentionally more casual than the graduation-day version. The gown typically goes on open, with the cap in hand rather than on the head. Sometimes the gown gets thrown over one shoulder instead. The full graduation silhouette (gown zipped, cap on) isn't a particularly flattering look on anyone. The goal is an image that reads as the actual person in a meaningful piece of clothing, not a photo from a ceremony.
Does cap and gown count as one of the five outfit looks?
No. Cap and gown is layered over an existing outfit and produces a set of shots alongside that look. It doesn't count as one of the five looks. Seniors bring up to seven outfits; the session typically produces five complete looks. Cap and gown is additional.
When in the session does cap and gown happen?
Angi sequences the outfits across locations, and cap and gown typically gets slotted where it fits the location and the light best. It doesn't have to be first or last. It gets worked into the session flow like any other look.
Can cap and gown be done at a custom location?
Yes. If there's a meaningful location for the cap and gown images (a school building, a place with personal significance), bring it up at the consultation. Custom location considerations apply: the spot needs to work for the session, and if it's separate from the regular locations, it needs to be nearby or large enough to carry part of the shoot on its own.
Ready to Schedule a Consultation?
The consultation is free and there's no commitment to book. You'll see the work, hold the actual products, and get a clear picture of the process from start to finish. If it's the right fit, the $199 session fee holds your date. If it isn't, you've spent nothing.
